There's something reassuringly sociable about our deHavilland passenger fleet. It could stem from the Rapides' eager, nose-high attitude on the ground, or maybe the Dove's slightly surprised, raised eyebrow facial expression. Or possibly these old aircraft really do have their own personalities. All we know for sure is that most of our passengers can't resist giving them a friendly pat as they step down from a flight.
The Rapide is a classic British biplane airliner. Its eight comfortable velevet seats each command a breathtaking view through those widescreen-sized cabin windows, over those elegant, slender wings. She's a gentle, kindly old girl with a heart of gold.
The Dove/Devon shows just how far aviation advanced through the war years. From outside you can see evidence of the DNA of a modern jet airliner. But inside you're right back in the 1950s. Like the Rapide, she has just eight seats, set in single rows so that everyone has a window seat - and if you're used to peering through airline portholes, you're going to love the size of those windows!
2008 has seen more people than ever before joining us for a taste of classic aviation. There's still time, before the old girls set off for their regular winter pampering, to sample a flight you'll never forget.
