A Stable Full of Nostalgia and Spirit

Our headquarters at Coventry is home to more than 20 irreplaceable classic aircraft.  So flying from our base is always an adventure - like visiting a safari park for old aircraft.  The stars of the show are the quartet that make up the Classic Flight passenger fleet.  Carefully restored and painstakingly maintained, they're a tribute to their de Havilland creators.

Tango Mike joined us in 1999 and has been a firm favourite with pilots and passengers ever since.  She's good-tempered and rarely exploits her star status with the cold-starting tantrums sometimes associated with 70 year old technology...

In her RAF colours, Delta Lima represents the de Havilland Dominie, the military version of the Dragon Rapide.  She was built in 1946 by Brush Coachworks at Loughborough against MoD Contract No: 6/Aircraft/5072/C20a with RAF serial TX310.

Romeo Papa joined us in 2007.  She was built in 1945 as a de Havilland Dominie, the military version of the Dragon Rapide.  Whereas our other two Rapides originated from Brush Coachworks in Loughborough, Romeo Papa was built by de Havilland at Hatfield.  She started work with the RAF under the serial RL958.

De Havilland developed the Dove as a short haul airliner to replace the Dragon Rapide, a role it fulfilled well enough to come to the attention of the RAF.  Their version was named the Devon - the story that  they changed the name because the Ministry of Defence preferred not to name an aircraft...
